Your Medical Legal Support Questions Answered

Who does PJWA work with ?

We support both plaintiff and defense attorneys in cases involving a medical component. Our work is guided by an objective analysis of the medical facts and evidence. Whether assisting with expert witness services, life care plans, needs assessments, or billing analyses, we provide independent, fact-based evaluations and reports designed to help attorneys understand the medical issues relevant to their cases.

What if I’m not sure if I have a good case ?

We provide comprehensive medical record reviews and can help identify strengths, weaknesses, causation issues and potential damages.

How quickly can medical records be reviewed ?

Turnaround times vary based on record volume and case complexity. Expedited reviews may be available for urgent matters at a rush fee rate.

Do you organize and summarize medical records ?

Yes. We create organized chronologies and medical summaries that help attorneys quickly understand the medical facts of a case.

Do you use AI software in your chronologies, medical record reviews, or medical record organization ?

While technology can assist with organization, complex medical malpractice, elder abuse, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death cases require clinical judgment that AI cannot replace.

Every PJWA Legal Nurse Consultant has at least 10 years of bedside experience, with many having more than 25 years in healthcare. Our team identifies missing records, inconsistencies, and critical medical issues that require experienced clinical analysis—not just data processing.

The result is clear, accurate, and defensible work product that attorneys can rely on.

When is a Life Care Plan needed ?

Life Care Plans are commonly used in catastrophic injury, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other cases involving long-term medical needs.

Do you create life care plans for both plaintiff and defense cases ?

Yes. We can provide objective evaluations and reports for either side of litigation.

Defense Medical Exams (DME)

Why should a nurse attend a DME or IME ?

A nurse observer can document what occurs during the examination, help ensure procedures remain case-related, and provide an independent record of the encounter. The nurse observer acts as an advocate for client at the exam.

What happens after the exam?

We provide detailed observations and documentation that may assist attorneys in evaluating the examination process. The exam will also be audio recorded.

How do I schedule a nurse observer ?

Contact our office with the exam details, and we will coordinate coverage based on location and availability.

Expert Witness

Can you help locate qualified medical experts?

Yes. We maintain a network of healthcare professionals and can assist in locating experts for a wide range of specialties.

What medical specialties are available?

Availability varies by case needs, but our robust network of medical professionals includes experts across virtually every medical specialty.

Do your experts provide testimony?

Yes!
